Zorkel — Privacy Policy
Effective 11 October 2026. Developer: Appingale LLC, 30 N Gould St, Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA. Contact: hello [at] appingale.dev. Website: appingale.dev.
Zorkel is a QR code and barcode scanner for Android. It reads codes, shows what is inside them, keeps a history and creates new codes, all on your device.
In short
- The app does not collect personal data and sends nothing from your device. It has no internet permission, so it cannot open a connection at all.
- No ads, no advertising ID, no analytics, no crash reports, no account.
- What you scan and create stays on your device until you yourself open, share, copy or save it.
What the app accesses on your device
| What | When | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | While the scanning screen is open. Android asks for your permission the first time; it is the only permission the app asks for. | The live camera picture is searched for codes in memory, on your device. The app takes no photos, records no video and does not save the camera picture. If you refuse the camera, you can still read a code from a picture. |
| Pictures you choose | When you pick a picture in Android's own picker, or send one to the app with “Share” from another app. | The app opens that one picture, reads the codes in it and keeps no copy of it. It has no permission to look through your photos or files. |
| Wi-Fi | When a code holds the details of a Wi-Fi network and you tap “Connect to network”. | The network name and password from the code are handed to Android's own “save network” screen (Android 11 and later), where you confirm. The app has no Wi-Fi or location permission and cannot see or change your networks by itself. |
| Contacts, calendar, phone, messages, email, maps, browser | When you tap the action for a code: add a contact, add an event, call, write a message or an email, open a place or a link, search the web. | The app opens the matching app on your device with the details from the code filled in, and you finish the action there. The app cannot read your contacts, calendar, calls or messages. |
| Clipboard | When you tap “Copy”, and after every scan if you turn on “Copy to clipboard” in Settings (it is off by default). | The content of the code is put on the clipboard. The app does not read the clipboard. |
Nothing is done automatically: a link is opened, a call is started or a network is added only after your tap.
What is stored on your device
- History. For each code you scan or create: its content, its format and type, where it came from (camera, picture, created in the app), the date and time, and whether you marked it as a favorite. A code can hold personal information, for example a Wi-Fi password or a contact card. The history is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read.
- Your control over history. You can delete single entries, clear the whole history, or turn off “Keep history” in Settings. While it is off, a new code is stored only if you mark it as a favorite.
- Settings. Vibration, sound, copy to clipboard, keep history, theme, and whether Pro is active.
- Temporary files. When you share a code you created or export the history as a CSV file, the file is written to the app's cache so that the app you chose can read it. Such files are deleted when the app starts, once they are more than a day old.
- Pictures you save. “Save” puts the picture of a code you created into your gallery (the folder Pictures/QR codes; on Android 9 and older, the place you choose). From then on it is an ordinary picture on your device: apps that you allowed to see your photos can see it, and it stays when you remove the app.
- Backups. History and settings are excluded from Android's cloud backup. If you move to a new device with a direct device-to-device transfer, Android may copy them to the new device.
What leaves your device
- Nothing is sent by the app. We run no server for it, and no other company receives data from it. You can check this yourself: the app's list of permissions has no network access.
- Links are checked on your device. The warnings about a link come from reading the address itself. The address is not sent anywhere to be checked.
- Your own actions pass a code on. When you open a link, the address goes to your browser and the website sees your visit, as with any link. When you search the web, the product number or text goes to your search app. When you share, call, write, open a map, add a contact or an event, or connect to Wi-Fi, the details go to the app or system screen you use for that. What happens there is covered by that app's own privacy policy.
- We do not sell personal data and do not share it with anyone: we do not receive it.
Purchases
- Pro is an optional paid upgrade, sold through Google Play. Versions in which Pro is open to everyone have no purchase at all.
- The purchase screen belongs to Google Play. Google processes the payment under its own privacy policy. Your card and other payment details never reach the app or us.
- The app asks the Google Play app on your device whether your Google account owns Pro, and keeps the answer (yes or no) on your device, so that Pro goes on working offline. Purchases are confirmed on the device; there is no account with us.
- As the seller, Appingale LLC receives sales reports from Google: order number, date, product, price and taxes, device model, the buyer's country and, in some cases, state, city and postal code. They do not contain your name, email address or payment details. We use them for accounting, taxes and refunds, and keep them for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
If you write to us
“Contact support” in Settings opens your email app with our address and a subject line that holds the app's name and version; nothing else is added. When you send an email to hello [at] appingale.dev, we receive your email address and what you wrote, and use them only to answer you. Ask us and we will delete the correspondence.
Security
Nothing is transmitted, so there is no data on the way and no copy with us to protect. The data on your device sits in the app's private storage, protected by Android's separation of apps and by your screen lock.
Keeping and deleting
- History stays on your device until you delete an entry, clear the history or remove the app. Removing the app deletes its history and settings.
- Pictures you saved to the gallery and files you shared stay where you put them.
- We hold no copy of your scans, so there is nothing for us to delete. For emails and order records, see the sections above.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13. It collects no personal data from anyone, children included.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA) you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of personal data, and object to its processing. The app gives us no personal data; what we may hold is an email you sent us and the order records described above. Write to hello [at] appingale.dev; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date.
